Director Terry Wickham is putting the finishing touches on HAIR OF THE DOG, a 42 minute psychological thriller for Producer/Writer Tim Clark. Terry is absolutely thrilled to announce that David Helpling will be stepping in and taking over scoring HOTD. "I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to David’s two Spotted Peccary albums. Quite simply David Helpling is one of my favorite musicians. Trade Offs Completed

We just wrapped the score for Vikram Yashpal's Directorial Debut "Trade Offs". With a running time of 100 minutes and over an hour of music, this stunning drama will hit film festivals in the coming months.

The most distinctive quality about this soundtrack is the spiraling, haunting vocals by Nidhi Bhatmuley...as mentioned in earlier news we were introduced to her through Vikram and instantly clicked. "I knew I wanted Nidhi to be a involved, but her voice changed my entire emotional approach to scoring this film. It was unavoidable...once I heard the first mixes come together I realized she was becoming the voice of Sapna's character." - David Helpling

While deep in the process we were also given the opportunity to write and produce the songs for the film...unable to turn this down, David wrote "This Dream" featuring vocals by Nidhi Bhatmuley.

McGraw Hill and Craig Frazier get animated

We got a chance to put music to picture for publisher McGraw-Hill's latest web motion piece. Artist/Illustrator Craig Frazier has a very distinctive style that has made it's way into numerous advertisments and TV spots. Together with designer Hillmancurtis, Ninthlink produced a spot for McGraw-Hill incorporating Craig's art with Hillmancurtis' motion that called for a sensitive, ambitious yet very driving piece of music. In doing so we also created a signature phrase to help brand this new media. Stay tuned for some samples...

Straight Forward with Linda Sargent

In the spirit of last years "Momentum", a new piece of stunning visual media themed Straight Forward just hit the streets for Sempra Energy. Produced by the talents at Four Square Productions and driven by a powerful new music score, it seems once again to be a classic. Lucky for us the producers were possessed by the haunting feel of Enya at the time. This allowed us to get the ever so hot, Linda Sargent in the studio for a day of vocal tracking. The piece came to life with her voice and was a huge success. "With Linda in the studio the piece just exploded and wrote itself...she is always on and has this incredible energy" - David Helpling

Ninthlink & DHM

"These guys get our vote for Production Company of the year" says David Helpling. "Ninthlink has been cranking out some of the most innovative, stylish & bold media we've seen in a while...but it's the people at Ninthlink that make this relationship so great". Ninthlink's Jeromy Stallings came to us last year with a couple of very cool Flash pieces & we haven't stopped creating since. Even under some pretty harsh delivery deadlines, working with Ninthlink has proven to be the most down to earth, focused & "vibey" working experience ever. From new Qualcomm technology to new branding for monster publisher McGraw-Hill, everything these guys do is flat out art.

David takes on new independant film

Completely the creation of first time director Vikram Yashpal, Trade Offs presents a rare opportunity to work with a group of truly inspired people. To be immersed in the beauty, culture & music of India while creating a unique sound & feel for this "American" film will be a rare treat & a great journey. "Vikram is my new best friend! (states David Helpling)...or at least someone whom with I share the same passion & enthusiasm for film, music & life in general." Sempra's "Momentum: gets a deep music treatment

When Sempra Energy needed an emotional, captivating opening message for their recent live corporate event, the creative team at Four Square Productions went to work on a touching piece of art with the theme of energy at its core. From this vision came a truly inspired work of great expanse & somehow still very personal translation.

"Itís always a treat to work with a team of this caliber but a piece like this that calls for the music to really tell the story...to be that half of the experience is indeed an honor. As images & music, Momentum is one of those classic pieces that will stick with us for a long time." - David Helpling

Four Square's

Four Square Productions came to David Helpling to custom score its anti pollution PSA, "Water Babies". Starring lots of swimming babies and delivering a rather serious message called for a tender balance musically. The result was simply beautiful and it took this year's Telly award in the Public Service Announcement category.

"The music for Water Babies was the perfect complement to the pristine visuals. Powerful in its innocence, with just the right portent of danger. It helped make the spot work wonderfully on an emotional level." - John DeBello, President/Creative Director Four Square Productions

DHM Custom Score Adds Heart and Emotion to Proposal

"Dubai, Festival City" the digitally animated feature is completed. Along with a custom score by David Helpling, the proposal to build this grand, new city is a success! "David's music made our animation breathe. Computer generated images tend to be sterile, but his sound textures infused our visuals with a deep passion and humanity. When we create animation, we want to invoke an emotional response in the audience; in this particular case it was an audience of one, the Sheikh of Dubai. He loved the Dubai Festival City proposal, and told the developer to build it as soon as possible! I know that a large part of his excitement was due to the heart that David Helpling's music gave to our animated visualization of the project." -Philip Ayres CEO The Ayres Group.

David Helpling's production company DHM Music Design, has been composing & producing music for picture since 1996. With complete music for picture services for Film, Television, Corporate and Interactive Media, David and his crew have built a solid foundation of clients, artists and friends dedicated to music for the visual arts.
